March 22, 2024: A Story from Brooke Musterman in Charlotte, North Carolina
Hi Craig. I want to profile a fabulous Charlotte artist & friend, named Patricia Boyer. I met Pat years ago. I am an art podcaster & had started doing art pop-ups at local bars & coffeeshops. I found her art online & fell in love with it.
She was a new artist, just starting out. I knew her art would be perfect for my shows. So I basically decided she was going to be my friend & stalked her. Fortunately, she agreed & we have collaborated ever since.
This was 2019, just before Covid. She had just gotten gallery representation, but didn’t let that dissuade me. I had connected with some bars & coffee shops who were interested. Several were. I did a couple of pop-ups & then I set up an alliance with a local brewery, where I would go once a week for 2 hours & sell her work.
She literally pours her heart into her art. She started doing it as a cure for her depression. She has this wonderful bright, abstract style that is guaranteed to draw attention.
We did a show every week for about a year. They had varying success rates, but Pat has been a true friend ever since. I’ve even gotten close with her family. Covid put a stop to the bar shows & with other priorities, I just never got back into it.
Pat is a true success story. She is making good money from her art now & I am her biggest fan.
